Garden Consultations
Lasting for a minimum of half an hour, a personal consultation is the best way for me to understand your personal requirements, ideas and any budgetary constraints you may be working with. All consultations will be charged at an appropriate rate to cover my contribution of knowledge, ideas, time, advice and travel expenses.
Garden Design / Scale Drawn Planting Plans
After considering your initial thoughts and establishing a clear vision for the garden, I will begin the design process. Scale drawn planting plans will be produced by hand, annotated and in full colour. A “key” will also be provided, listing the proposed plants, materials and any noteworthy additional features in the garden design.
The use of varied planting schemes and the clever use of reclaimed materials and aggregates can produce different colours, textures, and heights throughout the garden, combined with raised planters, rockeries and wildlife ponds to achieve a beautiful outdoor space, full of character for you to enjoy.
"Sometimes just a consultation is needed to complete a garden makeover without a design. This can be done by creating or adding to borders, creating small wildflower meadows, planting shrubs, hedges and trees, building a pond to fit into the rest of the garden". Not having a design can also keep the cost down of the project.
Quick Garden Transformations
In addition to complete re-designs and landscaping, I can achieve “quick garden transformations” by introducing a few key elements to your existing outdoor space. The use of bark and aggregates can help to completely transform the look of your garden, combined with reclaimed materials and stones to create rockeries, beds and interesting structures. The introduction of fences, trellis, archways and handmade wooden structures can also create striking results within a very short turnaround.
Working To A Budget
If you’re working to a particularly strict budget, I can design your wildlife garden to be implemented in stages, segmenting the cost of creating the garden throughout the seasons. For example, shrubs and borders can be planted first to establish garden beds, with bulbs and perennials planted later on in the year. Rockeries, trellis work and garden ponds can be added at any time, as and when preferred.
Wildlife Ponds
In addition to garden design and soft landscaping, I design and build wildlife ponds in Nottingham and the surrounding areas. I can produce hand-drawn designs before sourcing materials to produce a wildlife pond, rockery waterfall or bespoke water feature. Whatever your requirements or design preferences, I offer a complete pond building service and can produce, maintain, and renovate ponds and water features of all sizes.
I frequently use pieces of slate, stone and other larger aggregates to create pond rockeries to achieve different textures and focal points within your garden. These materials also provide the perfect conditions for supporting the return of wildlife and are ideal places for birds to perch.
